Packaged Commodities Rules — Compendium
The consolidated text of the Packaged Commodities Rules as administered by the Department of Standards and Weights, with each amending notification entered as a reviewable proposal.
This compendium holds the principal rules as notified, and the amendment history that has been applied to them since. It is maintained by the Standards Cell of the Department of Standards and Weights.
How this compendium is arranged
The rules are laid out as they are drafted: one page per Chapter, with the Schedules following. Rule numbering, sub-rule numbering, provisos and Explanations are reproduced as they appear in the notified text.

Citations are links
Where the rule text cites another rule, sub-rule or Schedule, that citation is rendered as a link to the provision it names. This is a presentation convention of the compendium, not a change to the text: the words are exactly those in the notification, and only the navigation is added.
The convention matters when an amendment moves a provision. A definition that shifts from an Explanation into the definitions rule leaves the citing words untouched — what changes is where they point. The Standards Cell treats those as substantive amendments and reviews them as such.
Source of the text
The principal rules were published vide notification G.S.R. 202(E), dated the 7th March, 2011, and came into force on the 1st day of April, 2011. The amending notifications applied to this text are listed on each Chapter page under Amendment history, by their Gazette citation and date.
Amendments received by the Department are entered into this compendium as proposals against the consolidated text. A proposal records what the notification actually changes, word for word, and is published only after the Standards Cell has read the change ledger.
